It survives a season outside
Every piece overwinters or summers in our courtyard before we list it. Weather is the only review that counts.

We started MistBench because outdoor living deserved better than flat-pack and guesswork. Here is who we are and how we choose what we sell.
MistBench began in 2016 in a narrow courtyard off Queen Street West, where a handful of us spent more time fussing over planters and string lights than we did indoors. Friends kept asking where we found things — and which of the things we found were actually worth the money. So we opened a shop to answer both questions honestly.
Today we are a small Toronto team of gardeners, makers and one very particular buyer. We still test everything in our own courtyard through a full set of seasons before it earns a place on the floor. If a cushion fades, a hinge seizes or a finish flakes, it does not make the cut.
Outdoor furniture should be repaired, not replaced. Materials should age into something better — silvered teak, patinated steel, weathered cedar. And buying should be calm: no pressure, no fake countdowns, no dark patterns. We would rather you bought the right bench once.

Every piece overwinters or summers in our courtyard before we list it. Weather is the only review that counts.
We favour teak, cedar, corten steel, fibreclay and solution-dyed fabric — things that patina instead of perish.
Replaceable bulbs, re-oilable wood, restitchable cushions. If you cannot fix it, you should not have to bin it.
Our Queen Street showroom is part shop, part planted courtyard. Drop in, test a bench, and talk through your space with someone who gardens.
